We are seeking an experienced and passionate retail manager to join our team. Our company is committed to providing our customers with quality products, exceptional service, and a friendly shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail operations, committed to driving high standards across the store and hard working to deliver results. Our friendly team of workers in Bourke deserve a manager who has the understanding to support them, the strength to lead by example and the determination to get results. The role requires travelling to our other stores across Orana region.

Task & responsibilities

As a retail manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the store's retail operations, including:

  • Developing and managing the store's budget, including sales targets, expenses, and profitability 
  • Developing and implementing retail strategies to drive sales and improve the customer experience and merchandising.
  • Ensuring that the store is properly stocked at all times and managing inventory levels across all departments to minimize waste and improve profitability.
  • Leading and managing a team of retail supervisors and associates to ensure that the store operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to build the business and mitigate losses.
  • A passion for customer service and community bonding
  • Available to work weekends.
  • Proven experience in problem-solving and work in fast paced team environments
  • High attention to detail.
  • High attention to detail - Creating and maintaining a visually appealing store environment, including store layout, merchandising displays, and signage in accordance with Khan’s guidelines.
  • Conducting regular training sessions to ensure that all retail staff are knowledgeable about products, promotions, and sales strategies in accordance with Metcash.
  • Ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WH&S) policy and procedure (including manual handling, ergonomics, and cash handling)
  • Reporting of any WHS employee incidents, workplace hazardous issues and incidents to Head office.
  • Manage the recruitment, training and conduct of all department team members.
  • Ensure succession plans are in place for the department.

Qualification & experience

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • A minimum of a relevant Diploma level qualification. A degree in business administration, retail management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a retail management role, with a proven track record of success (Grocery retail experience is an advantage)
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers, employees, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • A strong understanding of retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service. 
  • Basic computer skills are essential (programs such as SmartRetail and/or Human Force would be most beneficial).
