As the most senior staff member at Ocean Bar-Cantina, you will be entrusted with full oversight of both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. You will liaise directly with business shareholders, take accountability for performance against strict KPIs, and ensure the venue operates to the highest standards across service, compliance, and financial management.

This role combines hands-on restaurant leadership with administrative and financial responsibility, making it ideal for a seasoned hospitality professional ready to take full ownership of a thriving business.

  • Guaranteed overtime of 15 hours per week in addition to a 38-hour base
  • Highly competitive salary package of $142,000–$147,000 per annum, excluding superannuation

Task & responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily restaurant operations, including rostering and payroll
  • Manage and supervise FOH and BOH staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation, ensuring all certifications remain current
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of food and beverages to maintain quality and customer satisfaction, and handle complaints appropriately
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as required
  • Liaise with the business accountant to ensure bookkeeping and tax obligations, including BAS reporting, are met to ATO standards and deadlines
  • Manage all budgets and financial transactions, including cash handling and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, food hygiene, Liquor and Gaming, and all relevant licensing obligations
  • Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts and ensure timely delivery
  • Prepare and present regular business performance reports to shareholders measured against KPIs
  • Attend industry and vendor events outside normal hours where instructed and reasonable

Qualification & experience

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of restaurant and/or management experience
  • The ability to work 53 hours per week (38 hours base plus 15 hours overtime)
  • Demonstrated experience with Xero, HIOPOS, WOWAPPS, and other relevant hospitality software
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing diverse teams
  • Sound understanding of financial management, compliance, and regulatory requirements in the hospitality sector
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently with shareholders, staff, suppliers, and customers
