Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 + Superannuation (depending on experience)
THE BROKEN HILL PUB is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef/Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality food and exceptional dining experiences for our patrons.
The successful candidate will play a key role in menu preparation, daily kitchen operations, stock control, food safety compliance, and maintaining consistent food quality standards. You will work closely with the wider kitchen team to ensure efficient service while bringing creativity, professionalism, and strong culinary skills to the role.

Task & responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook menu items according to Club standards and recipes.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation, presentation, and hygiene.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and wastage.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and WHS regulations.
- Assist in stock ordering, rotation, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with management to create new menu items and seasonal specials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen at all times.
Qualification & experience
- Certificate III or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
- Sound knowledge of food safety and handling procedures.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within a team.
- Flexibility to work across weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
